Hi, I'm Joanna, the hands behind JL Massage Therapy.

I came to Copenhagen from Liverpool 10 years ago to complete my PhD, and fell for the city—so much so that I chose to stay here to raise my young daughter with my partner.

Over time, the competitive, output-driven world of academia gave way to a deeper need for something more tangible and instinctive. What started as an interest in massage therapy soon grew into a focused passion, supported by dedicated study and countless hours of hands-on practice.

Now I'm channelling my love for learning and research into understanding the body—with all its fascinating patterns, puzzles and remarkable capabilities. 

Since opening my treatment room, I've built a wonderful community of clients. Together, we work on everything from chronic tension and nervous system regulation to everyday knots and tightness.

I love how massage blends technical skill with intuitive care—how each session offers a chance to meet someone exactly where they are and help them feel more at home in their body. It's genuinely rewarding work, and something I feel lucky to do every day.
